My ruff draft review for http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/index.html.
This is a website for a doctor named Darrick Antell who is a New York plastic surgeon that is a specialist in skin cancer and the removal of it. This website has the statistic of over 500,000 new cases are reported each year. This website seems to be more of a informational website and to try to promote this doctor. There is a nother statistic of 80 percent of skin cancers appear on the face, neck, head.
He also goes into types of cancer such as malignate melanoma which is the least common but most dangerous. There are pictures of this kind also of squamous cell Carcinoma, and basal cell Cacinoma are all found on http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/types.html. They then have treatments for cancer. This shows some what of how they remove the cancer and how it looks afterwards these pictures can be found at http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/treatments.html. It also explains about the cell going to be biopsy or examined under a microscope. There are many kinds of treatment available depending on the size and stage of the cancer. But most common solution is plastic surgery.
This also has a risk and concern section where it gives questions that should be talked with your doctor before any treatment begins. http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/risks.html. They also have a section on prevention with a list of some steps that should be taken or things that should be done following a plastic surgery. http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/prevention.html.
Then finally they have a contact page in which gives you his phone number, address, and email in case you have any questions. http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/contactus.html.
In my opinion I think this is a very good website that provides a lot of information for the family or a person that has skin cancer. It also gives them a way to contact a plastic surgeon by email or make an appointment to see him and see what the options for that person are. I think that even though this is a website for a doctors office they did an excellent job with his website.

This is my review for http://www.aicr.org.uk/index.stm.
This is posted by the Association for International Cancer Research. This is a website that would probably be considered a minor website. Their mission is to inform people of options available to a person with cancer. They are also hoping to raise money to fund more research in hopes of finding a cure. They have what seems to be a lot available to people and try to answer common questions that people would like answers to.
One part of there site focuses fully on Skin cancer. It has questions that are commonly asked and answers they were able to find by research http://www.aicr.org.uk/skincancerfaqs.stm?Source=Adwords. These questions seem like any one with cancer would like to know the answers to. It informs the risks of skin cancer, what types there are and which ones are most dangerous and common. It goes into a deep look as to description of Basal cancer. It tells you the common symptoms for a melanoma cancer which is the most dangerous. It also tells as to what causes skin cancer, if its hereditary , and the best ways to avoid getting cancer. They also have links for different success stories that would make you want to donate.
I feel that this is a good website. They are just trying to raise money to fight a disease that can reduce the risks of the cancer coming back. They also provide a lot of information that I feel is useful to someone with cancer or for a person who's family member has skin cancer. It doesn't use statistics or anything to really tug at your emotions unless you know some one who has experienced it. It offers real stories also that people could relate to more.

This is my final draft for my minor website.
The website that I chose to evaluate is http://www.la-plastic-surgery.com/skin_cancer_reconstruction.html . It was written by Jonathan Hoenig, M.D. in 2002-2004. This website is different than my major website because it mainly focuses on reconstructive surgery for people who have had skin cancer. The major web site that I evaluated was different because it had information about skin cancer. Dr. Hoenig’s web site not only shows before and after pictures of skin cancer removal but you can also view other work he has preformed such as Botox, fat transfer, chemical peels and even facelifts.

This website offers before and after pictures of people who had skin cancer on their faces. It shows how Dr. Hoenig can perform plastic surgery after removing the cancer. From viewing the pictures in this section of the website it looks as though Dr. Hoenig knows what he is doing, and does it well. I don’t always believe in plastic surgery, but in a case where a patient has a hole in their facial region I can understand and agree that it is a good idea to have reconstructive surgery in that area. These before and after pictures are found at http://www.la-plastic-surgery.com/skin_cancer_reconstruction.html

Another part of this web site that I found interesting was the section on fat transfers. I am aware that this has nothing to do with skin cancer in the facial region, but to be honest there wasn’t any other information on skin cancer other than what is listed in the paragraph above. The before and after pictures of fat transfers can be found here http://www.la-plastic-surgery.com/fatxfer.html Fat transfers are also known as Fat Injections or Fat Graphing. Basically the Dr. moves fat from one area of your body to another, to “improve” the new area. It can be put in your lips to make them bigger or into other places on your face to make you look more youthful.

Overall, I found this web site very interesting. It is not as good of a website as the one I chose for my major review. But that is because the website I chose for my major review had a lot of information on skin cancer in it. This website is about plastic surgery, some of them having to do with removing skin cancer. I must say this website wasn’t as informative as my major, but it was more interesting. We humans need to understand that we are different for a reason, and we are supposed to get older! And its web sites like these that naive people look at and decide to get plastic surgery. Dr. Hoenig doesn’t show pictures of bad cases of plastic surgery, or the period of time between the before and after pictures.

This is my final draft review for a major website.http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000715/357.html is published by The American Academy Of Family Physicians. It was published July 15 of 2000. The main topic of this website is the detection and treatment of skin cancer. I feel that one of the strengths of this website is the that it is well written and informative. At the end of the website there is a long list of References whish shows that the creators of this website are educated and know what they are talking about. I honestly don’t feel that there is any huge weakness to this website. I think it is very informative and useful.

One section of this website that I found informative is located at http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000715/357.html also. In the beginning of this page it talks about the most common type of skin cancer which is nonmelanoma skin cancer but malignant melanoma accounts for 75% of all deaths of skin cancer. Melanoma is the eight most common skin cancer in the United States. Melanoma usually occurs in people who are twenty to forty-five years old. The reason that skin cancer may have increased could be because of increased sun exposure. Another reason could be because of the depletion of the protective ozone layer.

Another page in this website that I found to contain useful information was http://www.aafp.org/afp/accessories/browse?op=get_documents_via_mesh_id&mesh_id=D012878 This web page discusses a cancer removal procedure called Mohs microscopic surgery. Mohs microscopic surgery is a two step procedure that is preformed in the same day using local anesthetic. This surgery is usually preformed on tumors that are in visible regions of the body, such as the eyes, ears, nose, and lips. Larger tumors need reconstructive surgery. This web page is also good because it includes photo quizzes. For example it will show a picture of a specific kind of skin cancer and you can guess which kind it is. http://www.aafp.org/afp/20050601/photo.html

In my opinion the most crucial web page that I found was this http://www.aafp.org/afp/20040215/us.html It is all about preventing skin cancer. There is a table that lists multiple things you can do to reduce your chance of getting skin cancer. Some of the things you can do to prevent skin cancer is to use sunscreen and try not to be in the sun midday (between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm) when the uv rays are the strongest. None of these preventative tasks are new to us, but yet we still continue to ignore them. The greatest way to prevent anything is knowledge and the creators of this web site obviously are aware of this.

Overall, I found that The American Family Physician website was great. It was informative on different aspects of skin cancer. It didn’t just have information on one type of skin cancer, it covered many types. I trust in this website, I believe what it says is true. And that proves that I feel it is a good web site. From viewing the web site I know that the authors are well educated and have knowledge on the topics that are discussed on the web page.

This is the ruff draft for my reviews on my two websites:

I feel that the first website is well prepared for it provides information on important topics such as all the questions that one with cancer might have. It has the different types of cancer, factors, and symptoms that could help some one with cancer or the fear that they could have it. http://www.aicr.org.uk/skincancerfaqs.stm?Source=Adwords

The second website I found has some information on cancer but also information on plastic surgery that is available to people. It like the other goes through types, treatments, and risks of skin cancer. It is not hard to receive skin cancer but there are ways to treat and the things that elevate the risks. There are also ways to prevent skin cancer that is also mention in this website.

Hello this is Tara I found an interesting site on skin cancer. Its is about how to detect it and how to prevent it. It also has a lot of pictures which can make it easier to learn about skin cancer. Being able to see a visual picture of what you are learning about can keep you focused. The web site is
http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000715/357.html I'm not sure if this is a good major or minor site. I think it could be a major site because it has a lot of information about skin cancer.

Hello, this is Tara I think I found a good minor web site. It is www.omfsaboutface.co.uk/ It's a good minor site because it touches on skin cancer in the facial region. But I don't think its a good major site because it also focuses on other topics.

This is Darlene, I just wanted to post a couple of websites I found, they appear to have a lot of information to me but unsure if it is useful information. The two websited are:
http://www.aicr.org.uk/skincancerfaqs.stm?source=Adwords
and
http://www.skincancerplasticsurgeon.com/index.html

Hello this is Darlene, I just wanted to do this post before the websites to make sure this is right. Good luck to all!
